What important features are we missing?

Hi Guys,

I am new to the app and the community and I am still trying to understand how to use it.

It would be great to have committed expenditure by categories in the budgeting section too.

It could be done by either adding a different colour to the chart on the Category budget section of the budget screen or adding the same feature (pie chart) that the main budget has when you tap in the category budget…

That would give a really great insight into where your month is going and whether you have any discretionary budget left on that particular category or if a recurrent payment scheduled at the end of the month means that you should really not spend any more on that category.

I am actually not sure if this is available on the Private Space, as I have all of my relevant accounts in a shared space with my wife as the whole idea of this was trying to manage the family finances!

Good to see Recurring Payments improvements is on the short term roadmap! Could I ask what’s planned for this?

Would be great if the recurring payments page was not just one huge list (as it is now) and the recurring payments are displayed split up by frequency category of payment for example (i.e weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual recurring payments etc…) and if the recurring payments could be easier edited.

Also agree @adiaz1205 if committed spend could also be shown by each budget category in addition to overall that would be great

We are open to hear all sort of feedback since we have 2-3 people on this.

The main work is on the algorithm so we can detect more recurring payments, but we are also working on the UI and the way you can edit things.

This also includes letting the user know a new subscription has been created and figuring out how to deal with account switches.

Any update on this ,

Another request is a android Widget , which can show your bank balance straightaway on your home screen , something to make me stop buying junk food when I have dinner waiting for me at home

Hi @AdMack, we don’t have an update yet

Just to let everyone know, this is the functionality coming out next:

  • Autoinvest
  • Credit Score / Report / Alerts
  • Junior ISA

Budget Forecasting would be great!

It would be really useful if I could select an option in a transaction to transfer this same amount of money from one of my accounts to another. I buy with a credit card but have different accounts for different pots of money.

It would be great if I could change a transaction’s category when it is still pending. This helps keep everything organised

Hey @TM90, thanks for posting!

Pending transactions - we are working on it.

For the other request, you can also do this via the Pay tab - there is a transfer button there or directly in the accounts view.

Thanks for the response! It’s great to hear that the pending transactions feature is coming.

For the transfer feature, I have used the transfer option in Pay, but because of the extra redirects etc, it often takes longer than transferring from one bank app to another. However if I could use this feature in combination with the direct transaction data, this would be a real time saver and add value over direct bank transfers.

I use a credit cards to get points and offers, then often need to move money from a joint account or savings account, to the account where the credit card balance is taken from. Alongside the financial benefits, I do this because a lot of my transactions don’t fit into a monthly budgeting solution, so I use a form of digital enveloping to plan larger expenses (e.g. Holidays, house renovations) and then count those expenditures as transfers in Emma.

Without a feature like the one I mentioned, I need to review the transactions, move to Pay and then write in the amount, complete the transfer. I often do several of these transactions so this is a lot of backwards and forwards and I might as well use the banking app to do the transfer so I can stay on the transaction page. Adding a “Transfer” button/option to the transaction itself would save me time each time I do this and increase the value of transfer feature significantly for me, as regardless of the account where the expense took place I can complete all steps in one place.

In case it is helpful to see what I thought this could look like, I created the additional transaction option in the image below. It would use the new transfer button that simply transfers the user to the transfer view, with the value and reference auto-populated, and the user could then select the accounts for the transfer

i would love a Pensions integration.

i have Pensions with now:pensions & Moneybox. would love to be able to easily see them in app.

another integration i would love, for the future is Mortages or Loans. login or api connectivity would be the dream :face_blowing_a_kiss:

Mortgage/ home value integration would be great. So that my mortgage payments deduct from balance interest rate and period is added and then easily calculate how overpayments can change the expected pay off period and then also having an idea of the amount of equity would be great.

just a comprehensive view of home value and ROI as well not sure if zoopla/rightmove have an api to find the approximate home value but that would be cool too.

We are adding your Credit Report in the app - so we should be able to get these

How would this work ? What details ca be pulled from the credit report

Credit Reports show more or less everything - so we would get the mortgage balance from the previous month.

That would be good also a way to mark the payments as the ones going to the mortgage so its less of a payment more of a transfer

I also think offline pension and investment accounts could be better it would great if i could tell it the value of my account and then emma calculates return £/% as it knows my deposit history. I dont like how when i change balance it adds a transaction id like to just say it is now worth £x,xxx and emma works out the rest.

or even better if it can pickup the ticker symbol purchases when i import transactions

Hi Emma,

It would be nice to have a line graph and trend analysis on each offline accounts when you click into the overview of each account you have added so you can see how much it’s going up or down by. I have noticed that not all accounts have this. I can see it does have this feature when looking at the parent categories such as current, savings, investments and networth but when you drill down to each individual account it doesn’t always draw this visualisation on every account. Some account have it and It feels quite inconsistent.

Especially for offline accounts.

I would love another tab on the google sheet export which has the balances of each account and what category they are. This would be a huge help for me.
