Yes, we can look into this.
Just to let you know, we have these two ready to go:
- Invest / Save balances in overview
- Custom feed
I think another big one is in analytics when I want to check totals for the tax year I have to set a custom date for each tax year. I think having a tax year button particularly for the uk being april to april would be great, or when you set a custom period emma can use that as a similar ime step so I can swipe between periods. So i can chats April 1 2021 - April 1 2022 then April 1 2022 - April 1 2023 and so on. You can see in the images when a custom category is set it only shows that one bar chart compared to an annual summary. Or letting use save custom timesteps would be great too so each person can have a preset they can set for their custom tax period and have it as a single button in the custom section
These two are rolling out now in production.
I wonder if you could add online banking login links to the list of connections or somewhere else. It would be a handy little feature for the times I actually need to log in…
Would be great to see savings done in an Emma pot automatically added into the savings - can only add it manually right now?
This is live and available in the last update.
Any update on being able to toggle excluded items off recent transactions?
Any idea on timeline? Just increasing the cap from 10 to, say, 15 hopefully shouldn’t be too much effort! I am one of those crazy people you mentioned who takes a large purchase and splits it and then changes the dates to arrive at a sort of annual budget
The work is done - it will be out next week or sooner.
When you open up the subscription screen, it predicts the next payment date, however it’s not very organised in respect of which ones are paid and upcoming, I appreciate the budgeting screen does, it makes logical sense in my opinion to mimic that format. even if it was a green tick.
That reminds me that I’ve been meaning to write down a few suggestions I have in relation to subscriptions and upcoming payments…
-
For prediction related to payment of credit card bill, I’d love to see some additional prediction options as alternatives to current behaviour (which seems to be based on prior payments - which it not really useful for this particular type of recurring payment). Something I think that could work well is if Emma gave the user the option to inform it that the credit card bill is issued on day X and direct debit is setup to pay amount Y (where Y could either be a fixed amount or a percentage of the bill). Emma could then use this information combined with the card balance on day X to provide a better prediction for the direct debit amount than is possible just by using information about prior payments.
-
I’d like more flexibility when configuring expected frequency of a subscription. For example, I have a subscription which is paid every two years, and this is not an option available in Emma. Why not have a configuration screen with the following highly flexible format: "Payment is expected on day X with a frequency of Y Z (where user selects X and Y from numeric lists and Z from a list comprising the keywords days, weeks, months, years).
-
I’d also like the frequency configuration screen to have an option to exclude/skip certain time periods. The reason for this is I have a direct debit which is paid over 10 months of the year instead of 12. This isn’t uncommon for water bills and some council tax bills so I expect others do too. I’d like there to be an except clause where I can specify in advance that prediction should not apply between 1 Feb and 31 March. I know I can manually change the prediction of the next payment every February, but I always forget.
-
If I move subscription payments from one card/account to another, Emma fails to recognise this and I need to configure a new subscription/repeating payment within Emma for the new card and mark the old one as inactive. I would like an option to tell Emma that the subscription is still active but payment has moved to a new account/card.
-
When I look at the subscriptions and committed spending screens it would be useful to have an icon next to each entry indicating which bank/card each payment is linked to. I have a recollection this used to be present but was removed at some point.
-
The dates displayed on the subscriptions screen should include the year for any subscription where the next predicted date is not in the current year.
My main problem with the recurring payments is that Emma insists on creating and recreating phantom recurring payments, however many times I tell Emma they are not recurring.
For example, I make ad hoc mortgage capital repayments on top of my regular DD. Emma can’t cope at all. Just bounces a random figure up as a recurring payment. I say it’s not recurring, but Emma creates a recurring payment again by the time I reopen the app.
There are real weaknesses in the logic, it seems.
We are aware of this bug. It’s in the pipeline to be fixed, but currently happening on a very small percentage of users.
In Analytics its great that we have highly granular control in the accounts filter so that we can choose to either focus on All accounts, a single account, or some collection of accounts that we control via the check boxes.
But it would also be useful to have account groups (e.g. those shown/defined on the feed) as collection shortcuts within analytics filter list. Lets say I wanted to analyse spending across all the accounts in my credit card group. It would be nice to be able to quickly pick an item representing the entire credit cards group in the Analytics filter list instead of having to go through the list to select all the individual credit card accounts.
You can already filter by account in the analytics section if you click on accounts but I do see your point as to having shortcuts to frequently selected section.
You can also do this with spaces.
Yes the point is to avoid having to manually re-define a group for analytics every time I want to analyse spending within that group. Standard/default groupings are already defined for the balance summary in the feed so would be useful to be able to quickly access those groupings in the analytics filter too.
If I wanted to define custom groupings then this may be appealing.
But it seems overkill when the default groupings already exist.
My request is pretty simple; I’m new to Emma so let me know if I can do it already.
I’d like to be able to have a hierarchy of pots.
So for example, inside the pot BILLS I’d have pots called UTILITIES, MORTGAGE, INSURANCE.
And then to be able to report at both the BILLS parent level and the “child” levels.
Basically at the end of the day I’d like to see how much I MUST spend, how much I DECIDE to spend (eg cinema) and how much I am SAVING.
And sometimes I spend a bit more on HOUSE and a bit less on PERSONAL CARE. But overall I want to see how much I’ve spent on them both combined.
Hope this makes sense!
I do think subcategories is on the roadmap but im not sure when this would be able to come
