This makes sense, and would be very useful! I’ll pass this along to the team, thanks for the feedback!
I would love to be able to sort by amount: if I click on a analytics/category and then select one of the categories (for example “general”) I can see the spending in date order only. is there a way to sort by amount? this would make it much easier when looking at the whole year, to ensure any big items are in the right category. this would also be good when looking at account transactions.
Great suggestion, I agree this would be really helpful!! I’ll make sure to pass it along
Hi,
I’ve just signed up to Emma and encouraged my flatmate to sign up as well to track our expenses.
However, it’s actually difficult to do so, as budgeting doesn’t account for what is owed in the groups.
I’m wondering if there is a function to fold in what he owes me from shared pot into budget. as now it looks like I’m nearly double over bills budget as I usually pay them and it would be very helpful to have transactions that are folded into shared pot to also be accounted for in budgeting. is that possible?
so what I mean is for example this month he owes already me for bills in group but we won’t settle until the end of the months (as I pay bills on the first day of the months, then he pays rent and so on and we only settle difference at the end of the month)
I know if he pays me straight away and I change category from income to budget it will show correctly, but that is very inconvenient as we usually just add everything up in the end of the month (we used to use Splitwise to tells who pays who and how much in the end of the month) and do a one big transfer. Transferring for each transaction is quite inconvenient and makes our statements look a bit crazy to be honest.
thank you!
Hi @Alex73943,
I think you can use Emma Groups; this will work just like Splitwise for what you are looking for. The main difference is that Emma Groups is not linked to your budgeting and the two things are separated, so if you want to correct the budgeting you need to move the income transaction to the category you are spending from.
@edoardomoreni Thanks for your reply!
I am using it already, my suggestion is anything added to the group should automatically be reflected in the budget even before my flatmate pays me back.
We have a lot of things that one or the other pays for rent/cleaner/bills etc. and for example I pay bills on 1st day of the month, he pays rent on 20th and there are other transactions throughout the months so we don’t want to transfer for each one individual. We want group to track it, reflect it in the budget and only settle in the end of the months. Because what currently has to happen is every time I pay for smth he has to transfer me every time for budget to account for it.
Thanks!
Sorry another point, in groups it only lets you split costs 50/50 which is often not the case. It would be super helpful to have an option to either enter exact amount or adjust % share owed from transaction in the group.
Thank you!
This is something we are working on!
Regarding the integration with budgeting, it’s something we have not done on purpose since they are two separate features; but we are getting a lot of feedback about and we should consider it.
One more request for the uk folk. Our council tax is bilked over 10 months instead of 12. There isn’t a good way to do this in Emma and set the bills schedule for this.
Estimated pension payout value would be quite nice.
For example, add annual pension earnings with % for CPI etc and forecast what you will receive each week, month and year.
you are able to change the instalments you pay your council tax to across 12 months, every 6 months etc
This could be an interesting idea grant, cheers!
Yes saw those options but it isn’t granular enough to set it to 10 months off the year.
sorry I mean with your local council, you can change the instalments you pay them. if you wanted you could even lump sum it haha. I know it’s not what you’re looking for but this might be your best immediete solution. however I will still pass along your feedback to the team!
It would be useful if we could get a charity report so anything marked in the charity category can be exported in a format that we can send to HMRC to reduce tax liabilities.
I just wanted to let everyone know that a custom Bottom bar will be available in the next app version for Emma Pro and Emma Ultimate customers; this is a small edition but it will allow you to remove all the tabs, apart from the Feed, and re-organise them.
For example, you could change the app to: Feed, Invest, Save or Feed & Save and so on
It would be really useful if all accounts were accessible across multiple spaces. I’d like to use a family space for a holistic view of our finances, across our businesses, investments, pensions and personal accounts. Then create budgets within primary accounts or other spaces to monitor spending.
If open to customisation ideas, ability to customise the accounts card on the feed would be nice (the one that shows everyday, savings, investments, net worth)!
This might create an issue with categorisation (you edit an account, the edits are applied across all the Spaces); I am wondering if you could achieve the same just by filtering analytics? If you wanted to take a look at the numbers.
Do you mean hiding or changing the logic? The latter is a bit more difficult since then the graph on the following screen needs changing too.
