I would love rolling budgets! Most of my spending is under but I dislike being thrown heavily into the red when I’m not
What I would especially like is an Apple Watch app!
Something similar to: Pennies – Budget and Expenses by Super Useful Ltd
Another thing you could do is expand on the set of features pennies offers and then include tabs into that! So for example I could pay for everything and mark the transactions as tabs or split them and mark their share a tab - then Emma could send them a notification saying something like “hands up! It’s time to pay!” With the amount . This could be implemented in the Watch app too to facilitate easy tracking of how much someone owes you. It’d be be nice if there was some manual function built into this for cash payments or ones not linked within Emma (or even an option to make it entirely manual and uncoupled from core Emma)
Although I’d like to see an Apple Watch app, I’d be more than happy just to see a complication showing me how much is safe to spend today / this week / this month.
I’d like an option to rename closed accounts from the ‘Account’ section. You can rename active accounts and I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to rename closed accounts.
Hi Ed, Lilli, absolutely love what you guys are doing, Emma is a great app. I have been using it for a week and there are few features I’d love to have:
Add another person to a joint account feed. My husband and I have shared accounts, it would be great to be able to tag who spend what, and be able to split some joint spend.
Think previous people have mentioned this, it would be great to add mortgage, so we can track how much we still own and how much we have paid off.
The ability to customise notifications, let users set if x happens, then send them notifications. I’d like to get a reminder when I’m spending too much, for example, if I spent £100 on clothes this month I’d like to be reminded; but I feel I don’t need to know how much money I have on all accounts.
Customised feed, maybe give this option to paid users? I feel there is a lot of information on the home page, I’d like to close a few I feel it’s not that relevant to me, and maybe add some others that I use often.
I feel there is a lot of function, it can be quite daunting when users first start using the app. I like you have a ‘quest’ to lead users to do things, I feel this should be on the home page when users first sign up, and add a tutorial to each ‘quest’, which I think can help users get how to use the app quicker.
Even though I trust Emma, but when I add bank accounts, I still feel worried when you say you have requested ‘account details’, I feel this is not very clear, what kind of account details you have requested? Are you going to keep a record of my username/password? I will feel more confident if you also say what you would never obtain/keep, i.e. password, memorable information etc. Also, add a line, Emma is trusted by xxx number of users might help to build trust with users as well.
For budgeting, I think it would be great to let users first set a saving target, then help users calculate their minimum living cost (rent, bills, grocery – things that they just can’t cut down) and then suggest their disposable income, so these can be used for budgeting eating out, entertainment, clothing etc. Also would be great to be able to see the totals of all the budgets as well.
Since Emma knows all of the users’ financials, I’d love to see Emma provide more personalised suggestions to help young people get a pension and ISA, and start to invest early.
Hey am new to Emma today! Not sure if this is a Pro feature or something that’s being worked on, but as much as it’s great that Emma remembers re-categorisation, I would love to be able to have the option to make a recategorisation a one off.
Sometimes i’ll Shop at a store that I do my big grocery shops at, but for things or reasons that I wouldn’t categorise as a grocery in my budget. Would be great to be able to categorise some transactions differently to the rule.
Thanks for your feedback Emma only recognises a category after you have changed it a few times. So if you shop at a grocery store and you buy something for your home, you can change the category as a one off and it won’t effect anything.
We also have split transactions in Emma Pro which means you can split transactions across several different categories. If you go to the grocery store and buy food as well as toiletries then you can split this in two. Split transactions can be split more than 2 times.
When you change a category it asks you if you want to select all of the previous transactions from the same merchant and apply this to that category as well. If you just click 'apply edit to 1 transaction, it will not touch the other transactions.
If you have done this and it has still applied them to all of your previous transactions then it could be a bug.
Let me know and I will get the tech team to look into this.
Hi everyone. Love Emma, and here’s how it could be even better. Sometimes I want to assign different categories to transactions based on what I purchased from a particular merchant, e.g. M&S could be shopping, could be groceries, could be lunch. The problem is that it’s hard to see how a transaction is currently categorised, because all its shows is M&S logo, so I have to double check all the time OCD-style. The same applies to all merchants with an icon. It would be good if the categories were shown as overlays over the icons, perhaps in a corner or something like that.
Hi Igor and welcome here. Its a really friendly and helpful forum and its a great place to learn how to get the most out of EMMA and also be able to give ideas to make it better.
Have a good weekend
Hans
Actually, what I’d really like to see in terms of extra metadata in the transaction lists/feeds goes beyond just information on transaction category. What I think I’d like to see is the following:
Icon or text indicating which bank the transaction relates to
Icon or text indicating which category the transaction belongs to
Attachment icon if the transaction has an attachment
Perhaps you could consider a detailed view option/toggle for the transaction lists. Normal view would be what we see currently and a detailed view would also have the additional metadata. For this detailed view it might be necessary to remove the notes text from transaction list (for transactions that have a note) and replace with a note icon.
phone screen is fine for checking in, but too small to really look at details
Browser-based would be fine.
Joint accounts - access the same bank accounts and budgets from different logins
I know multiple people can log in on the same number, but that gets messy.
Virtual Pots
If I’m using the term correctly. I mean I allocate a certain amount within a bank account for e.g. car repairs, and I can track that over months as I save up, then spend on a brake job, etc.
It will be great if Emma’s support software/system improves to handle customer queries in more systematic way for customer…Some issues and suggestion
All the Queries or issues reported in same chat window- it would be great if we can create new issue which could ultimately create new ticket for you guys to work with Automatically but makes easier for customer to track of it and may be for you guys too. As I don’t think there is any system for you guys now where you track and report back to customer. As in current situation for my last 3 weeks of use, if I don’t get answer straight Away in chat and if support tells me he will get back to me/ or will raise a ticket…Not a single time support has replied back to me unless I ask…it definitely helped me to live with the issues but doubt on Emma’s accountability…
Without proper ticket system it is almost impossible to track the issues I reported or to get follow up from the support.
