Future/predicted balance!!

Has anyone suggested a future/predicted balance ability (like MoneyDashboard’s planner) to be able to see how predicted subscriptions affect bank balance throughout the month. Needs ability to add ad hoc payments. By far my favourite Money Dashboard feature but would love to see it in Emma!!

Yes, we have plans to add this inside the account view.

@dosman feel free to Introduce yourself 👋

Good news, hope to see it soon :+1:t2:

A while ago before I joined Emma there was a screenshot on your website showing some car finance with remaining balance. What feature is this? Also could it be possible if unable to link to loans, hire purchases and mortgages etc could it be possible to add these manually then link a subscription payment to that account and have it count down the balance?

Hi Everyone
I think for me I would like to see two things
Some of my expenditure. I can reclaim from work - if I could high light these it would make it easier to account.
Also I would like a simple forward looking prediction to keep me on the straight and narrow= for example if you keep to budget by next January you will have saved ÂŁ500.
Hans

Couldn’t you use a #tag to mark the expenses?

Yes of course simple is cool!!

That was more of a concept. ehehe

Loans and mortgages are something really interesting, which I think should be part of the picture; but we don’t support them yet.

This is nice and I think we can add it in the reports too.

  • I’d love to see support for more spending categories as well as income categories. As of now there is only one income category, but I’d like to see income categories such as gift, sale etc.
  • If I’m refunded either partially or in full, I want that to be reflected in the analytics. Meaning, if I get refunded, subtract the refund amount from the analytics.
  • I’d like to be able to suggest updated names for merchants even if they don’t have a Twitter account. It would be great if users could suggest name changes and upload their own logo. For instance, my apartment complex charges me each month, but has no Twitter. Instead, it shows up on my statement as a really long an complicated name.

This already happens. Categories can offset each other, so if you have -50 in groceries and then get a +50 refund, you can place it in Groceries. The amount will be ÂŁ0.

You can add more via Emma Pro. :upside_down_face:

That’s great. I wasn’t aware and has excluded them manually up until now.

Hi Ed. Great app. I don’t get enough from my Pro membership but I expect you will be rolling out more in what I hope is monthly releases.

I would like to offer up some candidates for any upcoming sprints:

  • I would like to manually be able to adjust the date of an incoming salary payment. My example is that I get paid into my current account but then push an amount to a second current account which is the focus of Emma. This is my household outgoings account to which my partner also contributes the same amount. We have a standing order set for the last day of the month, regardless of it it’s a working day or not. There is no solution for this as your fixed date only goes up to 28th. This means I have some months where there is an income payment posted on 1st and on 31st. This throws all the budgeting out and I have tried every different criteria to solve it to no avail. Should be a straight forward story this one

  • I would like to be able to change the name of a record but then change all same names records in one go. You force me to change ‘A CARLOS, 1245,1765’ to ‘Amber Carlos, Cleaner’ for every record individually. Hoping again, a straight forward story as you have this functionality for categorisation of similar records.

  • You are missing a Category view. I want to be able to navigate to a list of categories and click on them to see the full list of records, and toggle between each month. Eg. TRANSPORT would show me split by month, which records are in there so I can easily reclassify

  • You need an ‘anomaly’ button on records. I don’t want to ‘exclude an entry from analytics’ but rather have it shown there but not form part of my monthly average spend. For example, I spend ÂŁ50 a month on furniture and plants etc but this one time I deposited ÂŁ1k into my account and bought something big. This does not mean I budget for this in my household account.

Thanks, keep up the good work. Look forward to your reply. Out of interest , how many scrum teams you have and what is your release cycle like?

I’d like a web version of Emma, as well as an iPad app.

Hey @bsheikh, thanks for the great feedback! Feel free to Introduce yourself 👋!

  1. I think custom date ranges will come at some point. This is already under our watch.
  2. Yes, this is pretty straightforward, we just haven’t added it yet in Emma Pro.
  3. Have you tried to search for the category? You can do this in Accounts.
  4. This is a nice suggestion! More than happy to discuss it with the team.

We don’t do scrum. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the response Edouardo

  1. Without this feature it’s impossible to use the app properly. Eg. I deposit £1k per month into the account (income). My wife does the same. Income per month should be therefore £2k.

Unfortunately April shows £3k income and May shows income £1k. This is because two incomes from my wife’s source is coming on April 1st and April 31st.

This means all the analysis is to throw in the bin. I should be able to simply click on the April 31st payment and say ‘put into May’.

  1. Thank you. I hope you will prioritise this soon then because it sounds like a smallie. I genuinely believe it’s a smaller use case for a person to change a single entry as opposed to the use case of changing a record and naming all previous and future records with the same reference. You can thank me later

  2. great! You have the feature there. You could consider making more of a feature of it because I had to really think hard about what the categories were called when I clicked on search. Please consider an option to click a category

  3. Good stuff. Thanks for considering.

For me personally, if 1 and 2 are done, I would have everything I need for basics.

I agree with this one too, being able to tap directly into categories would be useful in quite a few places in the app.
