(Most-Wanted) Features

I get an Available balance and Credit Limit for each card except Amex, for some reason.

I think the ability to add a credit limit to Amex and any manual card would be nice. Then maybe a colour bar either as background shade on each account or as a sort of progress bar under the account name would be nice

Yes, Amex doesn’t return it. :frowning:

Where is dark mode and a sleek icon?! Love the app but it’s not aesthetically ā€œprofessionalā€.

There should also be a ā€œpending total balanceā€ where all the balance across all accounts is calculated including pending transactions. The information is there as it informs of pending transactions so it would be great for it to be included in a total balance to keep track!

Cheers! Happy new year.

Hello, trying to check whether the yearly analytics feature is going to be introduced soon… it’s very frustrating to see the spending report only one month at a time and not year to date…

I’d love to see customisable dashboards pretty please. For example, I would like mine to have a doughnut chart of my monthly spending to date.

Oh, and integration with Creation Finance too :slightly_smiling_face:

Happy New Year @Dylanausten! :sparkler:

Lots of good ideas for us to work on there, thanks for your feedback!

This would be amazing, and we’d love to provide something like this! I think there are other features we need to work on before looking at this, but definitely something for us to consider!

On the subscriptions page there is no sum of the total amount of payments for the month (or previous months). This isn’t a feature that I can see, unless I’m missing it somehow. I’d find it very useful because I can see I’ve got roughly X going out this month so I’ve got X left over. It would be even better to put it into a graph. I’ve been trying to get my bills down lately and it would be great to be able to visualise it like with the graphs on the account pages.

Hey @Twiglet91!

Like the idea of clicking on a month and seeing what payments are due/ what you paid in previous months and agree that showing this in graph form could be really motivational (both yay my bills are dropping, or woah I’m spending lots more than LY!)

Do you think a calendar view, or a filter type selection would work?

A feature I think is lacking and that I think would be very useful is to login to your account through a web GUI so you can monitor and control your accounts on a larger screen and with rich vibrant User Interface.

Few other considerations:

Multi user environment so more than one email can be registered to one account. (for example partners or family account where children can have restricted access only to their pocket money account for example)

Within the app there could be a messaging service where you can discuss bills and tag and comment on various things securely.

Generate downloadable reports from the web GUI to pdf or Excel format

Plot out future net worth and saving goals using past data and future commitments, assumptions and manual form filling.

Create future goals and use computer learning to suggest how to achieve goals.

Loads of interesting ideas here, thanks @paul-aishah!

Would this be different from the export to CSV function that we currently have?

Are you thinking that this messaging service would be with someone from the Emma team, or with other Emma users?

Hi Rebekah,

@rebekah a small feature request that would solve a big pain point - the ability to ignore categories from your budget.

Use case - we are currently doing a house extension and have a category to capture those expenses, but obviously these costs are an exception and making it hard to track the rest of our usual overall monthly budget ie. we haven’t really blown our monthly budget by thousands every month for the last 6 months, we’re just paying our builder. I don’t want to use the ā€œignoreā€ category because they are real costs (not transfers) but need a way to remove them from our budget calculations.

Hey @mwjackson!

We actually had a similar request from someone on our Instagram yesterday. They mentioned having monthly/rolling budgets but then also separate fixed budgets.

In their case, they wanted to use fixed budgets for things like house renovations. They don’t have a set amount they can spend each month, but still want to be able to track how much they’ve spent overall, which I’m guessing is similar to you

Will definitely pass this idea onto the rest of the team and see what we can come up with

Hello,
Currently all graphs have a maximum timeframe of 1 year- would be great to expand that!

Hello everyone. New here, tried quite a few apps and I’m staying with this one. Good job!
Chiming in what I’d like to see

  • A year view in analytics would be helpful (I’d like to expand the timeframe to 2 years, 5 years, and all time as well). Most of my subscriptions are yearly - I’d like to budget it yearly as a monthly average instead of going over a budget in one month when the yearly subscription is paid.
  • The current line graphs show no numbers. I’d much prefer to see numbers there too, on both axes.
  • Subcategories would be helpful. Show categories first (total budget for all subcategories) and only when I tap on a category I would see all subcategories (each with its own budget). For example, I’d have a total ā€œCarā€ budget with various subcategories in it, e.g., ā€œFuelā€, ā€œServicingā€, ā€œRunning costsā€ (like insurance, road tax, breakdown cover, etc).
  • Net worth over time line chart on the dashboard. There are really too many unnecessary things on the dashboard, like invite a friend in banner, invite a friend round button, Cashback - they could go into ā€œMoreā€¦ā€ menu - it’s not something you need to see daily. I won’t invite a friend just because there’s a button in the middle of the screen - it just annoys people (Emma is the only app that has that button in such an obttrusive way by the way from the apps I tried out). When I will invite a friend, I’ll know where to find it if you put it in the ā€œMoreā€ tab. I know you want more people to use it, but that’s not the way to go about it - by annoying your existing users.

What I also notice is that these kind of apps tend to have the transaction list as one of the main screens. Albeit it’s good to see all transactions in one list (from multiple accounts), it’s still something I can just see in my banking app. What we need from these kinds of apps is analysis, graphs and charts. That should be the main emphasis.

Thanks!
Upd: oh, and I forgot - please let us change category for a pending transaction. Other apps allow to do it and I usually update them when I make a purchase. Here I need to wait until it’s not pending anymore and may forget to change it.

Hey @unique - welcome to the Emma Community and thanks for all this feedback! :raised_hands:

You can click on the graph and follow the curve and the number will change at the top - realize that we could make this a bit clearer though.

We have thought about this in the past and do see the benefits of it - if you’re on Emma Pro you can set custom categories which could then act as subcategories like ā€œfuelā€, ā€œservicingā€ etc

Thanks for your feedback on this - we’re in the process of redesigning a few screens so you may find that this changes soon

Any further thoughts on this?

Hey @mwjackson!

Still like the idea but we need to get rolling budgets out first and then we can properly think about other cool budgeting features like this! :raised_hands:
