When are we getting subcategories?

Yeah I spotted this too, doesn’t seem right to me.

similarly - it feels like the subcategory is being treated/viewed as the category.

It should be bills as the category.

By the way, we have already released a fix for this - you should now see a subcategory field.

They appear under the parent; I think in this case you have not set a budget for the subcategory?

What do you mean? You can search for Bills as well and see the overall total. In the screenshot you shared, you were searching “Experian”.

Yes I seached experian and it shows it’s category as subscription, this is the subcat, bills is the cat

yes, I saw thanks

Hi @mrchrisbrogan , I got you.
Our current approach is to prioritise showing the most specific information, the subcategory, when it is applied. Do you think you would prefer you see the parent category or both the parent and the sub?

From my perspective for sure this is the category - it doesn’t make sense to me to display the category as the subcategory, it’s mixing the parent/child methodology.

Understood. Thanks for the feedback! Let us consider for the future updates:)

We are fixing this.

Great thank you

Correct but i don’t plan to budget every sub category i more plan to just view them as part of the parent category so if i want to see my budget for fuel id check within transport but a lot of the times i wont have a budget for flights or rental car that is within the holiday category

Same sentiment - budget at parent level - then the split of subcategory just shows you how the spend was apportioned.

In essense, it really isn’t a view of a future update/enhancement. This is more a bug in the setup.

Just to rephrase:

  • We have fixed the export file both manual and live
  • We are submitting an update for the budgeting section - subcategories shouldn’t show in other categories.

Great what about sub category budgets being excluded out of the total budget and rather being linked to the parent category

Hi @Vladanm999 - we are working to release excluded categories next week; so this should address your point?

Currently there’s no way to search by subcategory (i.e. they don’t appear in the search filters list for categories), is that on the roadmap?

This is possible - just tap on the parent.
