What important features are we missing?

I think my opinion is obvious at this point, but adding more banks will positively impact less than 1% of Emma’s customers.

This is not an excuse not to add them. If there is an API available, we always do.

I agree the only major service missing is Chase and i’m sure once the API is out you will add them pretty quickly after and similar in future I think the features on the list and which I’ve mentioned in the thread should be a next priority as both invest and pots have now been added.

Id love for the price to be lower or certain features to be added to the free tier but thats difficult to sustain a business so I understand.

Stock / Portfolio tracking is the big one for me. I’m not interested in the first party platform - I just want to track allocations of stocks I have elsewhere. Offline accounts don’t suffice so its really just missing from Emma ATM.

Well, there is just one stocks & shares account supported ( Nutmeg ) and one Pensions ( PensionBee ).

Right now I’ve written my own tools to get pension / isa balances and upload to a google spreadsheet to get a single view of where I am … Emma is some ways off being able to automate that.

I suppose another idea for semi automations is to add support for funds ( so like google finance ), but even so it will be painful to keep up-to-date with number of units held. Then again, tools like google finance are likely to be easier due to bigger screen

I would like to see manual linking of subscriptions, since it seems impossible for Emma to track subscriptions perfectly. Changing the payment method is guaranteed to break links, so a new subscription has to be set up with no link to the history. Having two payments each treated as a separate subscription would be helpful e.g. I pay two lots of vehicle excise duty and two payments to my council (council tax and garden waste).
I’d like to see existing features improved e.g. make the rules for linking manual accounts work two-way straightforwardly; why does it take so long to get cashback; have the download show currency transactions in sterling; have the ability to replace the joking weekly analysis with something useful.
I don’t use EMMA as a money manager/investment app but if I were to consider it, then it would need to become a proper platform rather than a front-end to a US operation I’ve not heard of.

Anyone in UK that offers US shares is a frontend?

The algo should already be able to split payments to the same merchant. There is the “Adjust subscription” edit in the settings that can help with this as well.

We are going to work on subscriptions next month cause there is way more that we can do, including all the points you have mentioned.

Ability to add merchant logo from different sources e.g. instagram (or even upload your own image).

Very good one

Another feature missing is category specific rolling budgets so that each category can be decided if a rolling budget is appropriate for that category

With all of the suggestions made and noted as you have at the top is there a plan to update and implement each one in the roadmap?

I’d like to see my savings and investments within the Emma tabs shown in the Feed summaries at the very top of the Feed. I’ve started saving and investing using the app, and it seems weird they don’t show in the summaries.

Agree, however its on the list already

This is coming in the next few weeks - hopefully sooner.

We are working on adding the missing data to the graphs.

I know I’ve mentioned this before but accounting for pending transactions (even if they have to sit in a pending category) in the budget/spend for month.

It’s the main reason I don’t use Emma.

I think we can do something for some banks that don’t change pending transactions - as in it would work for some and not all.

Came on here to say exactly this! I’m from the US where I used Mint and now have to find somethign to us for UK accounts and my one major painpoint with Emma is that it’s so much more cumbersome to use without the widget or web access

Binance Smart Chain support would be great!

These are my most wanted…

  1. Introduce a “pending” category for analytics: At any moment in time I want to be able to go into analytics and see how much spending I have in pending state. I don’t want these transactions to be assigned a normal category until I can edit that category (i.e. until it comes out of pending status).

  2. Give me some control over the structure of the account summary/overview at the top of the feed. I don’t like having current and credit combined into everyday. I’d like the option to have these separated. Perhaps there could be an option to turn off grouping of different acocunt types.

  3. Bring back the display of bank transfer references for Monzo transactions. You used to display them but removed them a couple of years ago.

  4. Fix Smart Rules for Monzo bank transfer. I suspect it doesn’t work properly because of 3 (i.e. not pulling in bank transfer reference).

  5. Ability to filter out the “something happened” notifications from the notifications list. These are just duplicating information from my transactions list.

I was kind of anti having these combined at first but now I don’t mind it. I think if a credit card is used for everyday and then paid off at the end of the month, this is where it should sit. If, on the other hand, it’s used for larger purchases and not paid off straight away then I think it’s more of a short term loan and doesn’t belong in everyday. So, I do agree with you having more control and I think when adding accounts, the solution is for the user to decide where that account resides in analytics.
