Would it be an idea to do a splash screen for newcomers and the features? You seem to have to confirm stuff like this a lot.
In vain of Monzo or Revolut showcasing the features in a stories like format where you tap left or right to skip back and forth.
Hi,
I have just tried spaces and it doesn’t quite do what I would like. I do not want to share a whole account/budget with someone else, instead, I just want to share certain transactions with them which I do through the share feature on the app. When I do this I want it to be linked to the budgeting feature so I can better track my true expenditure. In any given month at least 10% of my transactions are shared with others on an ad hoc basis.
If I share a transaction with someone else or a group, I would like this decreased amount to be reflected in my budgeting. e.g. I share a transaction worth 100 with someone else, I want my budget to reflect 50 not 100. Right now, I would have to do this manually by splitting the transaction and excluding it.
When someone else shares a transaction with me, I would like for it to show in my budget and to assign it to a budget category. Right now, I would have to manually add this into my budget.
I would also like to be able to add multiple transactions to a group at once rather than one by one.
I hope this provides a bit more clarity about what I want to achieve.
If I am mistaken and spaces does do this, let me know.
This is a great suggestion and something we are hoping to roll out in the app soon
Does your systems have the capability to remotely access an account? I’m wondering whether or not to put the suggestion forward for ultimate customers to have a concierge like service, probably would open more doors from the older demographic.
Concierge service like customer support in live chat?
Yes sir! That’s why I was enquiring about system capabilities, if they can’t work out how to add or edit a category, live chat remote access, if they’re booking a holiday, then they can pick from the rewards directory.
We are already doing it in a way. I am not sure if you meant something a bit more advanced "book me a dinner at "
If you’re already doing I would advertise it… it’s a great selling point/USP.
couldn’t you use the open banking to draw the money to the e-money pot then handle the transaction from there?
Shorter journey = happy customers.
In terms of analytics, I wish Emma did more around helping plan repayments of debt.
For example, for figuring out whether you’re better off overpaying a mortgage (vs savings or paying off other debts), there are some considerations one should take into account. Feels like this info could be at my fingertips in Emma, automatically worked out for me all on one cool screen - but currently digging this info out of Emma feels like similar effort to finding it out from the original bank apps.
I also really like this debt repayment calculator in terms of displaying debts in order of priority, giving an estimated timeframe for paying each one off, and a plan for how much to repay on each debt each month to minimise interest. What I dislike about that calculator is that I have to type in everything from scratch each time, so if Emma had something like this built-in, it’d be great.
Hi team, hope this is the right place for my suggestion (and if it has already been suggested, my apologies for the duplication).
I can amend the name of my account but with characters there limited, and also not showing in full, I would like a note/comment function below to allow me to add a note relating to the account (e.g. joy down when interest is paid, what the full name/issue number of the account is, purpose of the account, etc). Basically an option to write down informing relating to the account (similar to the description field for each transaction, which I find very helpful).
I’ll try post a screenshot where it might be placed, though it could perhaps also go below the list of transactions if it’s easier to program it there.
Thanks
A way to do this quickly would be customising the name of the savings goal or adding a custom transaction (excluded) with a description.
Oohhh…didn’t think of this.
I’ll try the savings goal option first.
Thanks @edoardomoreni
Hi again @edoardomoreni
I first using the option via the savings goal…this is too much faff though and it’s not possible to just add a description and leave the rest blank.
Then tried adding an excluded transaction of £0.0 and give that a name with my desired description.
For some reason, the transactions have both disappeared (I had done this for two offline accounts).
Therefore a notes filed might still be the easiest option for users (though maybe not necessarily for the programming team).
Thanks
This looks like a bug, I have opened an internal ticket
Thanks @edoardomoreni
Well done on the App, I have used it since Beta (and remember suggesting the exclude from analysis feature to you when i was able to suggest changes through the beta chat).
I have started using Emma more now that it has Chase integration.
For suggested changes/improvements:
FASTER BUDGET SORTING
-
If we create our own category please make the emoji for that category visible on the pie chart summary.
-
Please consider allowing sub categories. E.g I like to keep track of the money I spend on Lime Bikes, so I have a separate category, but I would rather this to be a sub-category under Travel (perhaps the tags feature would do this) (see my next post)
-
There needs to be a faster way for the user to assign vendors from one category (particularly ‘General’) to other categories.
A) it would be great if we could search for a key word through transactions and bulk assign to a category. For instance if a vendor contains the word ‘Pub’ or ‘Bar’ I would like to automatically add that to the eating out/equivalent category (or my own ‘’Pub/Bar’ category).
This would be similar I suppose to an outlook Rule or search folder, and could perhaps be incorporated to the Smart Rule option.
You could also do it so that transactions could be quickly tagged (without having to click through) and those tags automatically, via a rule, are put in a certain category. This would save a lot of time in future especially if applied automatically. A way to implement a quick tag feature would be similar to when you ‘emoji’ react to messages on messenger. You hold down on the transaction and there is a pop up above with suggested tags (based on most used) and you keep holding down and swipe to the relevant tag.
B) It would also be great for there to be a ‘select’ option when viewing transactions in a category, after clicking this, checkboxes appear on the left next to all the transactions, you can then click all the transactions that you want to bulk move into a particular category at once (perhaps with the intermediate step ‘Do you want to apply this to all transactions under each vendor name?’ or equivalent). You already have the UI ability to do this for when you click a specific transaction, select move to category and it comes up with option with checkboxes to select other transactions of the SAME vendor name (or ‘select all’) to move them. So this should be more straight forward.
CLEANER UI OPTION
A criticism I have seen is that the UI has too much information on it. One suggestion:
For plus/premium members I would appreciate it if we could turn off options such as ‘investing’ on the Home Screen ; I have my own investments outside of Emma and do not currently have any use for this feature, it would make the UI much cleaner for me if I could disable it in settings. I understand you might not want this for non paying members as it’s a way of advertising essentially that service.
Thank you!
POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE TO SUBCATEGORIES
Actually another option instead of subcategories would be this: when you click a category, there should be a list (horizontal and scrollable) of all of the tags in that category for the period. Then you just select the tag and it quickly brings up all the transactions in that period. It would be a feature to have along with the current tag search ability, but have the advantage of automatically linking it to the specific category and budget cycle you want to look at.
Hope that makes sense!
This is coming - we have put a design in another thread: Feature Request Update - #21 by grant.m
Awesome stuff
Also sorry for the overly long paragraph yesterday
I think main feature that would be useful budget wise is bulk tagging and auto categorising based on the keywords of transactions via user implemented rules or the tag assigned.
Then just being able to filter by tag for each category for a given budget cycle without having to do it via the search.
Also if there was any way to implement Cazenove (part of Schroeder’s) would be great but probably too niche.
Great that you are so engaged in user feedback!
