Have you considered publishing a public roadmap for current/potential new users to see what the team is developing?
+1 for this!
The trouble with this is we’re moving so fast that it’d have to be a very very general roadmap
Priorities can change daily and a roadmap can very quickly become irrelevant or worse, misleading
Yes, we have indeed considered this a few times.
As @Joel mentioned, we move really fast, so lots of things would be outdated pretty quickly. The other thing is we are building something very very unusual in our own way, so we like to keep the surprises coming.
Would love to see a roadmap section in app so the user base can regularly check what’s upcoming and being tested, no other aggregator offers this natively, only on the websites, if the source of information was exclusively on the app. It would keep users involved and excited, new users would get to learn by actually trying the app instead of skimming through a forum trying to find what you’re looking for.
Will never happen unfortunately.
@edoardomoreni confirmed this a while back.
We only plan for 6 weeks ahead and most of (all) the time our plans change. It might also happen that some features get tested on 50% of the user base and then we remove them completely.
I would find very hard to justify what it’s coming or not. On the other hand, we communicate all the upcoming features via social media once we are 100% sure - this happens a few days before rollout.
that’s a shame I get what you mean though, In regards to the Roadmap thing, It’s great about the social media Updates thing but from a mental health perspective, going by experience also, not a lot of people would be willing to sign up for twitter or Facebook etc. just for updates on their favourite app, not everyone is comfortable with it , I used to but for mental health reasons I don’t, I plucked up the courage for this as I’m passionate about fin tech.
We’re glad you did @sean.read
Haha thanks a lot ! I trust EMMA but I wouldn’t trust Facebook or Twitter with my house keys let alone my name or DOB
Maybe an announcements category on Discourse?
We have one. Emma News & Updates - Emma Community
Maybe pin this?
I’m not sure how visible the latest updates are on here
But no posts on what you’re working on we need teasers and hints the posts seem to correlate with features when you release them sneak peaks on stuff even if they’re a long way off !! Sort of like the Making Monzo Page which from what I’m aware is very popular
Yeah the Making Monzo pages are huge, they even have dedicated Twitter/ FB pages for it - I think for us at the moment though we will just have to try and communicate what we’re working on through the community!
Completely agree and get where you’re coming from How about considering having a member of the community being a brand ambassador , some decent Emma Graphics and Badges, build a bit of hype, insider hints could have our own monthly catch up could use this same method to give @edoardomoreni a rest from the other community forums I am a sucker for cryptic hype
Hey guys,
I am a bit late on this, but we are seriously considering to publish our 18 months roadmap by the end of May.
Do you have great tips on how to show this? We were thinking Notion would be a great tool.
@edoardomoreni I do my roadmap in Notion, has one of the best UI.
Something I’ve seen is having a public “product backlog” based on Trello tickets and allowing the public to vote on which ticket (i.e. backlog item) they want the most, which then feeds into the roadmap.
Yes,
I was thinking a simple board similar to trello.
Building in public is a growing trend. Not for everyone though.
Trello is a popular option. Take a look at all these I follow and @edoardomoreni DM me if you want the links…
I would take the roadmaps as very high level and likely to exclude some of the best stuff.
Now if you want something a little more inspiring than a Trello kanban…then check out possibly the best public roadmap ever… the Tree of Up (from Up Banking in Australia).
