Investments coming up as spending

Hi

Any money I allocate to investments comes up as spending on the budgeting app. Small thing but it is irritating. There should be a separate function to allocate money to investments and it come up as savings instead of spending every month

Hey @Daniel

Welcome to the Emma Comunity.

There are a couple of ways people manage their investments and savings in Emma, but here’s what we recommend

Do you think this would work for you?

I have this same problem. A separate view of incomes, spendings and savings/investments would be ideal

Hi,

At this moments all my transactions categorized as investments are considered as spending.
I think that it would be a good idea if the app divides the transactions between spending, incomes and also savings/investments. In that way, it would be possible to know how much each person invested or saved over time and still have a view of how much they had to spend over time. A separate view of expenses and investments would facilitate the control of finances, after all, investing is not spending money.

Best regards,

Welcome to the Emma Community

I do quite like the idea of adding a third “type” of transaction for savings/ investments.

Say you move £100 from your current account into an investment account… we could add another type that tracked the £100 transaction into an investment account, but what do we do with the £100 that has come out of your current account? Does that get categorised as saving/investments?

Hi,
Thanks for answer.

It can be considered a transfer (or saved/invested). This type of transaction can be categorized as an investment, but the only difference is that on the screen where the incomes and spendings graphs are shown, there could be a third party that would show savings/investments.

That way it would be possible to track how much each person receives, spends and also how much they invest or saves per month.
