Budget period: one-off change to incoming salary, how to

Hi folks,

My budgeting period usually starts on the day of salary receipt, ie 25th of the month (and if this is a PH or a WE day, we get salaries the working day before).

For Christmas, the company always pays a couple of days earlier, i.e. this year on the 23rd.

Emma then registered 2 salaries in my December budgeting period which kind of skews the analytics.

I can of course manually amend the budgeting period for December, i.e. move the period from 25th of the month to 23rd of the month, and for January manually change it back to the 25th.

Question: will this affect the data when I scroll through the monthly view? Say in Feb 2026, if I look back at the monthly data, will the one-off month show that the budgeting period was different to the other months or will it show details the same way as for the other months where the budgeting period started on the 25th.

I think, in this case, it will be skewed; we are aware of this problem and it only happens once a year. :sweat_smile: We don’t have a good solution at this point - apart from preserving previous custom pay periods.
