New integrations query

Just out of interest:

When was the last time Emma introduced a new back integration. Also, do you have a timeline for when the next integration will be introduced?

Hey @grant.m,

I think the last two were The Co-operative and Triodos Bank UK last year.

At this point, we don’t have a big bank left out of the list; there might be some small opportunities like Zopa or Kroo, but nothing major.

If you got Zopa and Kroo then that would be incredible!

Cater Allen is a big bank..

The smaller they are the more difficult it is to integrate.

Zopa would be a big win for me.

I used to be pretty much full-Emma, but I’ve since moved my primary current account to Zopa, and my savings to moneybox and wealthify, so I’m now pretty much unable to use Emma at all :frowning:

Why does bank size matter?

I assumed if theyre using the open bank standards than all banks should be addable?

Im waiting for you to add zero before I switch to them.

They don’t have an engineering team so the tech is unusable from our end. :frowning: They also tend not to reply when we ask for information.

When I asked zero about integration with Emma they seemed keen

Hopefully it is something you can both work out.

Theyre looking at being a bit more of an ethical bank than most of those out there right now.

Bank of Ireland has been missing for a while. You cant count UK accounts.

We have Bank of Ireland UK?

It’s Bank of Ireland (Ireland) that I was looking for

Ah! We only operate in UK, we don’t have an EU license. :frowning:

Thanks Brexit

Even with open banking, bank size does important.

According to UK Open Banking regulations, open banking provides you with the rails (api access), but it does not ensure that the bank’s implementation is error-free, reliable, or even completely compliant. Technically, some smaller banks make the API available, but the transaction payloads are irregular, the auth flows are strange, or the uptime is poor. For an app like Emma that requires trustworthy aggregation and classification, it is a nightmare.

Larger banks often provide better sandbox settings, more developed open banking stacks, and quicker help when anything goes wrong. The trade-off between integration work and active user base might be difficult with smaller ones like Zopa or Kroo.

Therefore, in principle, it is not as simple as “if they use open banking, they are addable.” whole different story in production.

This one implemented their authentication flow differently from all the others and it’d take us quite some time to build and support over time.
