Yeah, I’d like to know if this is even possible with the current authentication. Can Emma somehow see that two different sets of credentials are for the same account, then just update the one joint account?

so you have a multi layer system and can share a layer with 1 person.
In this way, we avoid the percentage splitting and all the other solutions that don’t make much sense.
I wouldn’t over-complicate this feature on day 1. Fundamentally we have a number of accounts in our household and my wife and I just need a capability to view & manage those accounts without sharing logins (as it’s currently recommended by Emma).
I suspect those managing a combination of business and personal accounts on Emma is a bit more niche and probably not worth the complexity trade-off.
