I just wanted to let you know we have built a piece of tech to progressively allow categorisation of pending transactions.
We have not really announced this because the tech is dynamic and changes over time according to how the bank is behaving.
This is also not really visible from your end since pending transactions that allow editing just look like normal transactions; we simply don’t show them as spending in Emma.
With this said, we are now allowing pending transactions editing on these institutions:
Edits allowed for personal checking accounts:
BOS
CHASE
DANSKE
FIRSTDIRECT
HALIFAX
HSBC
LLOYDS
MONZO
NATIONWIDE
NATWEST
RBS
REVOLUT
TRANSFERWISE
PAYPAL
STARLING
Edits allowed for business checking accounts:
BARCLAYS
MONZO
STARLING
Edits allowed for personal savings accounts:
BARCLAYS
CHASE
HALIFAX
HSBC
LLOYDS
REVOLUT
SANTANDER
STARLING
Edits allowed for credit card accounts:
BARCLAYS
MONZO
NATWEST
We are now working to expand this list and build rules to detect and match pending transactions for every institution; so you should see less “pending transactions” in Emma over time.
In allowed credit cards does Barclays mean Barclaycard, or is there another type of credit card from Barclays?
I’ve just paid for something with my Barclaycard and it’s still showing up as an uneditable pending transaction in Emma. It’s an Avios rewards MasterCard in case relevant.
Yes, so the system changes every 30 or so minutes; banks make mistakes all the time and if we are confident we can match the pending on that day we allow the editing; the list I have put above is not final.
Ah, so pending transaction editing might not be available for all transactions from institutions in your list. It might only be available for some transactions?
Yes, the list updates every 30mins to make sure you don’t lose the edits; from a UI point of view, it’ll be difficult to see difference because stuff that is pending will just look editable like any other transaction.
We are going to keep working on this to the point that there might not be pending transactions in the app anymore.
Hi, i am not very clear about the changes introduced, as from my “at-a-glance” point of view all of the transactions are still pending for a while. Let me maybe provide an example to clarify - I have my chase debit card, I go to Sainsbury’s and buy smth. What are the chances this transaction will be immediately editable?
Good to hear/read more is being done about pending transactions, but I noticed that they don’t keep my tags and descriptions when they change from pending to proper.
As they look identical, had labelled them as per usual (iirc they were categorised correctly), but the tags and descriptions went once they converted from pending.
Is this a known issue or teething problems?
I’d rather then wait a day or two than having to do the labelling twice.
Thanks
