Halifax to Lloyds

I could have asked this in app support but it would affect other people so let’s try here..

For those of us that have Halifax accounts, what do we need to do with the impeding closure of Halifax systems (including app) and migration of accounts to Lloyds?

If we have Lloyds accounts already, is it just a matter of renewing the connection in the Lloyds app and adding the Halifax accounts - will they be synced with the existing Halifax data in Emma? And what if we don’t have Lloyds accounts - what would happen with the Halifax OB connections as the app would go away?

Or will this need handling manually through in-app support?

Good question.. wondered about this myself.

I recently renewed my Halifax connection and transactions still have the Halifax logo.

Maybe it’s up to the bank to change it all…

No but practically this can’t be all driven by LBG.

In Emma Halifax accounts have a Halifax OB backend. I’m asking what is the process to change that to a Lloyds OB endpoint without disruptinf the connections resulting in duplicate accounts or transactions.

Hi Lucian, Judith,

Good question. You’re right that this isn’t left to LBG: we handle the move on our side.

What to do: keep your Halifax connection in Emma (don’t delete it), then add Lloyds as a new connection and log in with the Lloyds details for your migrated accounts. That’s all.

What happens on the first Lloyds sync:

  • Emma recognises the new Lloyds connection as the successor to your Halifax one. It matches the accounts on the bank’s account ID, or on sort code and account number. A reissued card with a new number is matched on the transactions the two feeds share.
  • Each Halifax account is retired and linked to its Lloyds counterpart, so your history carries on in one account. Your custom name, Space, hidden status, account type, custom credit limit and splits all carry over.
  • Transactions that appear in both feeds are merged, so you shouldn’t see duplicate accounts or transactions.
  • Once all accounts have moved, the old Halifax connection is closed automatically.

Two things to know:

  • Please don’t remove the Halifax connection before adding Lloyds. The matching needs the Halifax accounts to still be in Emma. Marking it as closed is fine.
  • Renewing the Halifax connection only refreshes that consent. It doesn’t move anything to Lloyds, which is why you still see the Halifax logo, Judith. The change happens when you connect Lloyds.

If you don’t have Lloyds access yet, nothing changes for now. The Halifax connection keeps working while LBG still serves it, and you can connect Lloyds whenever your login is ready.

If an account still shows twice after the first Lloyds sync, message us through in-app support and we’ll link it manually. That mostly happens with reissued cards when there’s little transaction overlap.
