Unfortunately, this is the still latest situation with Co-operative Bank, Metro Bank and John Lewis Partnership Credit Card:

Hi @danjameswalker,

Unfortunately, Metro don’t offer a proper API, only a “modified customer interface” (MCI) which isn’t the same thing. This allows them to say that they are Open Banking “compliant” even though they don’t have an API.

I’m sure Emma will quickly integrate Metro support again if they do launch a real API. It’s the same story for Co-operative Bank.

However, it does seem like things may change later this year, if regulators agree to change the rules around Open Banking:

mandating API support seems to be something regulators are now actively considering, and could result in a change to Open Banking requirements as soon as next year.

So this is now looking more positive:

the idea of forcing all financial providers to support API Open Banking is being looked at by regulators, but there is concern that it would be too costly for some small providers so they are reticent to force the issue.
