Set budgets on Merchants

Hey folks,

what do you think about this feature?

We’d like to add it in Pro - if you think this might be useful!

That would be very much appreciated :partying_face::partying_face:

I can’t see myself using it to be honest.

But I don’t use category budgets either.

I think it would be pretty cool! :sunglasses:

I could see myself setting a budget straight away for ASOS orders haha

My first spontaneous reaction is that I probably wouldn’t use it as category budgets drive my own spending habits. Although I can see how it would be useful for people overspending on Deliveroo, Amazon or Ubers etc. specifically.

Yeah, I agree this is where it could bring most value - any area of your spending that you need to be reminded just how much you’re spending!

Also perhaps Starbucks/ Costa - sometimes seeing that you’re spending hundreds of pounds a month on something as small as a coffee is the only way to identify if you’re happy with that spending habit!

So I feel with checking how much you spend at one company, we already have a good function to see your spending via the “Merchant” view in Analytics. The weekly/monthly reports also give good intel on this. Not sure how much extra value budgets for merchants would add to these two tools, but I’m sure others would disagree with me

Haha yeah you’re right - there’s definitely other ways you can go about seeing what you’ve spent!

I guess the only difference is the visual aspect where you could see how close you were to going over your budget? Which some people might then use to make decisions on their spending for the rest of the month?
