I know, I am mad!
At this point I just genuinely don’t know why anybody would be banking with Metro as they’ve cut back every USP they previously had. This makes them a low quality high street bank with much fewer branches than other high street banks. I keep thinking some other bank will buy them but it never seems to happen.
I don’t get it.
Way back when, I was keen to see if Metro would launch an API as I wanted to migrate my old legacy MCI connection to API status. I suppose it will have to remain forever in my Emma account as a closed connection now, given the account is also closed!
Precisely what I’ve been thinking as well. They launched with a fanfare only to end up with the most vanilla product possible.
It was my first proper account, I used it massively until I realised there were actual perks elsewhere. Then later they kicked me out (& blacklisted) with no explanation (I was only using the account as a hub). I’ve been trying to get back in out of a mix of nostalgia, curiosity and spite, and it looks like they’ve lifted the block lately, but I genuinely can’t see any reason to join them back as a customer. Even the card is the same as 8 years ago. The newest bank on the high street, yet stuck in the past like no one else..
Snoop seems to have the integration working - but they are not listed as an Open Banking provider and we have been trying to directly contacting their 3 OB people and emailing them every other month, but no one is replying.
If this is also not OB ready, it means to fresh you need to reconnect all the time.
GoCardless Open Banking service supports Metro Bank.
I’m trying out an Emma competitor and they support Metro Bank through GoCardless
Please integrate with GoCardless so Emma can finally support Metro Bank!
@edoardomoreni doesn’t believe in GoCardless
Developer API flavour - #28 by edoardomoreni
(or else we would have had Cater Allen etc.)
