We’ve just published a new article on the Emma blog that looks at [7 money habits that’ll help you improve your finances](http://bit.ly/3bzmtjZ).

One of the things we mentioned is the idea of living within your means…

I’ve been thinking about the quote **“Don’t go broke trying to look rich. Act your wage”** and so was wondering what tips people had for living within their means?

Whenever I’ve had a raise or changed jobs, I put most of the extra money I would be getting into savings/investments.
That way I end up having roughly the same “fun” spending each month.
Obviously, I do give my self a slight increase in that too. 😉

Yessss this is a great idea

And yeah you’re definitely allowed to splurge a little after your first increased paycheck 🙌

Have you tried budgeting using the 50/30/20 method? I think that’s another good way that you can keep your spending in check after a pay rise!
