Hi, if you start typing it will suggest the tag for you, but if you can’t remember what you called it in the first place, you end up scrolling through! 😵

Yeah I guess at the moment it shows you your most-used tag first!

We can definitely consider showing them alphabetically instead though 😊

Do you mean the tags in the transaction view?

Just going to resurrect a thread because this is one of the things that annoys me most about Emma since it just feels so obvious. The issue is with the order tags are displayed when both applying a tag to a transaction and when searching for transactions by tag. You could easily have a little sort button to switch between most used and alphabetical. Most used would make sense if the tags weren’t populated by a whole lot of useless ones that have been automatically added without any user interaction. Sorting custom tags above out-of-the-box ones would also make more sense.

Hi @Greg,

thanks for raising this.

We are taking a second look with @Yukiko 🙂

I had assumed the sort order was most used, but I went through my transactions and removed all the out of the box tags I didn’t want so they have zero transactions but some of them still show above other tags with several transactions, so I don’t understand.

I would have expected tags with no transactions to disappear altogether as well but they haven’t.

Seconded. Also the case in the transaction search feature, categories are sorted but tags, payees and accounts aren’t. It makes sorting a long list extremely tedious or even (especially in the case of payees accumulated over a longer period of time) next to impossible.

Sorting all these lists would be the better way IMHO.

By the way, the alphabetically sorting is designed and will come to you soon; we are also reviewing all the points raised above as well. Let’s goo!!

The new view of tags on the edit transaction screen is so much better, exactly what it should be. Can you implement the same view for the transaction search tags filter screen? That is still sorted in a seemingly random way.

It should be out in the next release or so.
