# Gone over budget?

Hey Everyone,
We now encourage users to set a total budget and I thought, we talk a lot about budgeting and managing money on here, but what advice would you give to those who go over their budget one month? How do you even everything out and account for situations like this??
How do you do this in Emma?

If I’m over budget I put it on a credit card rather than paying overdraft fees/interest - but I make sure to pay the credit card balance as soon as payday rolls around so that I don’t pay any interest on that either. The watchout, of course, is not to end up in a constant cycle of paying off last month’s debt and then running out of money at the end of the next month again!
